I lost my keys, what do I do?
Look at the front of the lock there’s usually a code stamped on it (something like “C103L”). Take a photo or write it down, then contact our partner retailer with that code and the manufacturer name. Most key codes can be cut from inventory and shipped the same day.
Can I order several locks that work with 1 key?
Yes this is called “keying alike.” When ordering, tell our partner retailer how many locks you need and that you want them all keyed to a single key. Note: not all lock types support keying alike, so confirm your model first.
How can I take out my old lock to change it?
Most office furniture locks are held in with a small clip, retainer ring, or set screw. Our identification videos walk through removal for the most common types. You’ll usually need a flathead screwdriver or a small pin tool. If you’re unsure, send a photo of the lock first we’ll tell you what you’re working with.
The company that made my cabinet is out of business, can I still get parts or keys?

Yes, that’s our specialty. We carry replacement keys, locks, filebars, and small parts for dozens of discontinued manufacturers including ALB, Art Met, Storwall, Sturdy Met, Pundra, Cole, Commander, Standard Desk, and many more. If you can identify the lock code or send us a clear photograph of the lock face, we can usually match it.

What is your minimum order?

Our partner retailer has no minimum order on individual keys or small parts. For bulk orders for example, a facility-wide rekey contact them directly for volume pricing.

My keys don’t work why?
Three common causes: (1) the lock cylinder has worn out from years of use, (2) the key itself is bent or worn down, or (3) someone replaced the lock and you have the old key. If the same key works in another lock of the same model, the issue is the cylinder and the code stamped on the lock face will tell us which replacement to send.
Can I order locks or lock cyl to match up with the same key as existing locks?
Yes, in most cases. If the key code is still readable on your existing lock, we can cut new locks to match. If the code is worn off, send us the working key (or a clean photograph of it) to copy from.
Where are you located?
Long Life Ltd. operated from 407 Birchmount Road in Scarborough, Ontario. The retail location is now closed, but our partner retailer ships across Canada and the United States.
Can I change just the lock cylinder or barrel or plug only?

Often, yes. Many office furniture locks are designed so the cylinder “the part the key turns” can be replaced without removing the entire lock body. This is the cheapest way to rekey a desk or cabinet. The cylinder type depends on the lock body, so confirm your existing lock model first.

Can I pick up at your location?

No, the Scarborough retail location has closed. All orders ship through our partner retailer.
